Built in the year 1964, Pelling Sr. Sec. School used
to be the only big school built in West Sikkim. Its
premises stretches over some acres. Besides the main
building there are boy’s hostel, girls hostel,
teachers family quarters, football ground, volleyball
ground, children park and school canteen. Within the
school building there is a well stocked library room,
computer class room, physics laboratory, biology
laboratory, chemistry laboratory and about 12 classrooms
and a spacious auditorium. This school has more than 40
teachers including principal and about ten non teaching
staff . There are about 450 boys and 350 girls
altogether 800 enrolments. About 100 live in hostels and
the remaining are day scholars. This has classes
beginning from nursery to class XII. The medium of
teaching is English. The streams at higher classes are
Bioscience, Pure science, commerce and humanities. Where
as there are optional non academic streams like tourism
, painting and other vocational subjects. Including this
school all the govt. schools are under NCRT board with
CBSE courses of which the board exams are at standard X
and XII. School observes children's day , teachers day
and annual function towards the end of session. Besides
there is always full participation of the school in
annually celebrated India Independence day and
Bhanujayanti . This school always has been cooperative
in providing all kind of possible help in any kind of
social problems and activities. In sports, music, dances
and other co curricular activities, the children of this
school are ahead. Football,cricket and volley ball are
there main games. |

Govt. provides free education to the
lower class children with free books, school bags, rain
coats, school dresses and lunch during lunch break.
School has rich varieties of plants and trees, suitable
for visitors to stroll around and meet the children
during school hour.

you want to meet the children or visit the classes. At
