Legship Rangeet River dam,Kirateswar Mahadev Mandir, Reshi hot spring:

Legship is a small market area on the banks of the river Kalez and Rangeet about 26 kilometers from Pelling. A small town with police check post is in fact a main crossing point of roads from Yuksam, Tashiding, Kewzing, Rabangla, Gangtok, Jorethang, Pelling, Gayzing and other places. Well equipped with nice eating places ,lodges, shops, communication centers, Legship can be a nice relaxing stoppage where from one can cover boating at Rangeet river dam, visit at Kirateswar Mahadev Mandir and in short drive one can pay a visit to Holy cave of Guru Renpoche called Lho Khandosangpho and healing dip in Reshi Hot spring( only in winter).

Rangeet River Dam is a big Dam meant for the Rangeet Hydel project, recently installed by NHPC company. As the dam is right on the main river bed between the stiff rocky cliffs it appears more like natural lake and, on it, a non Govt tourism organization of Legship is conducting boating and rafting during tourist seasons. The place is suitable for a day picnic too.

Kirateswar Mahadev Mandir, a Hindu temple, is one of the most holy and popular Hindu pilgrimage site.Legend have it that a stone that looked extraordinary was carried away to different place for a purpose, which, the very next day, flew itself back to its original site. The same stone people began to worship believing it to be Shivling. Long time ago as the people found miraculously existed a stone manifesting Shiva Ling. There isbelief that a mere visit with true devotion to this temple fulfills one’s wishes particularly a wish for son or daughter and other wishes. Once  in a year on the occasion of Hindus Shiv Ratri, local people of Legship do organizes a festival which falls in Dec-Jan.

Lho Khando Sang Phu is one of the four famous caves in Sikkim, where Guru Rempoche the 8th century great Indian Buddhist Tantric yogi meditated .
